Data

Variable: Numeric.

Segment by: Text or Numeric.  Must contain equal number of data points as the Variable.

Example

You collected data on time (in minutes) to resolve a customer enquiry from two call centres (1 and 2).  You want to describe the two sets of data.

1.       Open worksheet ProcessMA > Tools > Data Files > Sample.xls.

2.       Choose ProcessMA > Statistics > Descriptive Statistics.

3.       In Variable, select A – Time.

4.       In Segment by, select B – Call Centre.

5.       Check Plot graph.

6.       Click OK.

Interpretation

The data indicates that call centre 1, on average, takes about 2 minutes longer to resolve a customer enquiry.  There is also greater variation experienced in call centre 1.  The above can also be observed from the histogram.
