This tool can generate three types of factorial plots to help you visualize the effects, namely the main effects, interactions and cube. They can be used to help you visualize how the response relates to one or more factors.
The main effects plot charts the means of factor levels for each factor of 1 to 11 factors. Center points are also plotted if included. This plot can be used to compare the strength of the main effects across factors.
The interactions plot charts the means for each combination of factor levels for a pair of factors of 2 to 11 factors. Center points are also plotted if included. If more than two factors are included, a matrix of interaction plots is generated. In general, an interaction between factors can be identified when the change in response value for one factor differs from the change in response value for the other factor.
The cube plots charts the means of each factor level combination for 3 to 8 factors.
At the Excel Menu (For Excel 2007, go to Add-ins first)
Choose ProcessMA > DOE > Factorial Plots
In Response, select the column containing the response data (Numeric)
In Main Effects - Factors, select the columns containing the factor levels for Main Effects Plot (Between 2 to 11 factors)
In Interactions - Factors, select the columns containing the factor levels for Interactions Plot (Between 2 factors to 11 factors)
In Cube - Factors, select the columns containing the factor levels (Between 3 to 8 factors)
Click OK
You want to investigate how temperature, intensity of light and type of catalyst affect the growth of organisms. You created a full factorial design for three factors and with three replicates. You ran the experiments and recorded the data. You want to use Factorial Plots to visualise the effects.
Refer to Create Factorial Design help file to create a design for analysis
Choose ProcessMA > DOE > Factorial Plots
In Response, select H - Response
In Main Effects - Factors, select E - Temp, F - Light, G - Catalyst
In Interactions - Factors, select E - Temp, F - Light, G - Catalyst
In Cube - Factors, select E - Temp, F - Light, G - Catalyst
Click OK

The Main Effects Plot suggests that growth increases for the high levels of all three factors and the Catalyst effects are small. From the Interactions Plot, there seems to be no significant interactions among factors. The Cube Plot shows the mean response value for various combinations of factor levels.
