Overview

 

The Matrix Plot is made up of individual scatter plots for several variables.  It is useful for visualising the relationship among many variables, pairwise, all in the same chart. 

 

 

 

 

 

How to

 

1.       Choose ProcessMA > Graphs > Matrix Plot.

 

2.       In Variables, select the columns containing the individual variables

 

3.       Click OK.

 

 

Optional

 

4.       Check Plot partial matrix, if you want to only plot half of the matrix.

 

 

Note       To select a column of data into a textbox, double-click on any of the column names shown in the list on the left of the dialog box while in the textbox.

 

 

 

 

 

Data

 

Variables: Numeric.

 

 

 

 

 

Example

 

You know that sales revenue is dependent on the number of sales representatives on the field, the amount spent on marketing and the range of products offered.  You gathered data from 30 branches and you want to visualise the relationship between sales revenue and its factors.

 

1.       Open worksheet ProcessMA > Tools > Data Files > Regression.xls.

 

2.       Choose ProcessMA > Graphs > Matrix Plot.

 

3.       In Variables, select C – Sales, D – Reps, E – Marketing, F – Products.

 

4.       Click OK.
